Challenge
Two pitches for the same World Cup: opening titles for FIFA, and an on-air package for Telemundo, its exclusive Spanish-language host. One has to feel like an institution. The other has to feel like the room you watch the match in.
Approach
They were pitched separately and are shown together because the answer to each depended on understanding the other. Telemundo’s brief asked, in so many words, for a package that harmonised with FIFA without becoming busy.
FIFA — Opening titles
Tournament titles carry an unusual burden. They run before every match for a month, in front of an audience that will see them dozens of times, in territories with no shared language and no shared team to support.
That rules out narrative. Anything with a story to tell becomes unbearable by the third viewing, and anything built around specific players dates the moment a squad changes.
The pitch worked from atmosphere instead — the physical scale of a tournament rather than its personalities. Stadium architecture, crowd density, the particular quality of floodlight, treated as material to be composed rather than documented.
Broadcast graphics of this kind live or die on their last four seconds. The sequence was built backwards from the badge resolve, so that everything preceding it reads as approach rather than as content that happens to end.

Telemundo — On-air package A broadcaster’s package isn’t seen once before each match; it’s seen constantly — studio, match graphics, bumpers, the wipe into a break — and it has to stay unmistakably Telemundo while wearing someone else’s tournament. Two routes went forward. “Closer to the Action” put the viewer in the stadium and was pulled back in development until the energy came from the football rather than the graphics. “At the Heart” made the Telemundo mark itself the host: the two T elements of the logo open, scale and move to frame content at any size, then reconnect into the T. The mark isn’t a sign-off; it’s the container everything lives inside. A spin on the Ts was written to work with the logo spin in FIFA’s own 2026 branding — the point where the two pitches meet, with the broadcaster’s system moving in time with the tournament’s.
